Annual meeting
Laetitia and Patrick participated to the annual meeting of the SEB (Society of Experimental Biology) in Brighton, UK on 4 to 7 of July. Patrick gave a talk entitled « Lipid physical properties, membrane dynamics and transport, and lysophospholipid acyltransferases at the ER-Golgi interface in plant cells ». Laetitia and Patrick organised a workshop on Plant ER

Congress participation
Jerome, Yijun, Vincent and Fred came back from Goettigen in Germany where they attended the 22th International Symposium on Plant Lipids organized by Ivo Feussner. Jerome gave a talk on the function of CER1 proteins in the biosynthesis of cuticular alkanes in Arabidopsis.
PNAS
Laetitia contributed to a publication in PNAS on the Fragile X Syndrome pathology. This work supports a model where FMRP (Fragile X Mental Retardation Protein), by controlling the translation of the DiacylGlycerol Kinase kappa (DGKκ), indirectly controls synaptic protein translation and membrane properties by impacting lipid signaling in dendritic spine.
Publications
Camille, Laetitia, Stéphanie, Jérôme and Fred, in collaboration with Owen Rowland (Carleton University, Canada) and Dylan Kosma (University of Reno, USA), published a paper showing that most of the fatty alcohols not covalently linked to the suberin polymer are in the form of alkyl hydroxycinnamates (AHCs), with alkyl caffeates predominating. Such compounds are not restricted
The ANR projet blanc PANACEA
The ANR projet blanc PANACEA » PlANt plAsma membrane lipid signalisation in biotiC interactions » coordinated by Sébastien in collaboration with three laboratories in Dijon (UMR PME Plante-Microbe-Environnment), Paris (UMR PCMP Physiologie Cellulaire et Moléculaire des Plantes) and Bordeaux (CBMN, UMR Laboratoire de Chimie Biologie des Membranes et NanoObjets) ends with a publication in Plant
Seminar
The LBM invited Eric Hosy (Institut Interdisciplinaire de Neurosciences, CNRS/Université de Bordeaux) through the invitation program of the FR BIE for a very interesting seminar entitled « How single particle based super-resolution techniques succeed to improve our vision of molecular dynamic organization of the cell ». Thank you for the nice discussion on super-resolution microscopy.
Seminar
Juliette Jouhet from the Laboratoire de Physiologie Cellulaire et Végétale in Grenoble gave a seminar invited by Florence Corellou LBM and the FR BIE on « AtMic60 is involved in plant mitochondria lipid trafficking and is part of a large complex ». Than you for the discussions on membrane contact sites.
Publications
Jerome and Fred, in collaboration with the team of Christophe Rothan from BFP unit in Bordeaux, participated in the characterization of a new tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) cutin mutant. The fruit cuticle thickness, composition and properties were altered in the gpat6 mutant. In vitro assays with recombinant proteins produced in yeast showed that a point mutation

Publication
Camille, Jérôme and Fred, in collaboration with Steven Moussu and Gwyneth Ingram from the RDP lab in Lyon, published a review, in the book « Lipids in Plant and Algae Development » edited by Y. Nakamura and Y. Li-Beisson, on the relationship between plant surface lipids and epidermis development and the difficultly of functionally separate epidermal cell

Publication in Plant Physiology
Yohann and Magali, in collaboration with the team of Shuzhen Men (College of life sciences, Nankai University, China), contributed to a publication in Plant Physiology on the functional role of an enzyme of the sterol biosynthesis pathway, the sterol 4α-methyl oxidase2 protein (SMO2) in regulation of embryogenesis in Arabidopsis through auxin accumulation and PIN1 expression
